A Washington State certified school counselor and music teacher, I earned my Master of Education School Counseling and Bachelor of Music Education degrees from Western Washington University.
In November 2019 I was humbled and proud to be accepted into membership with the Council of International Schools as an Affiliated Consultant.
Working in schools for 33 years as a school counselor in the USA, Japan, Nepal, Tanzania, and the United Arab Emirates taught me that “kids are kids everywhere”. It has also taught me that parents everywhere always want what’s best for their children. Making sound educational choices is of paramount importance. I love having a part in the educational journey of students through the high school years. It’s an enormous privilege.
With my main focus being on college and university guidance counseling in recent years I have gained experience with a wide range of international university admissions systems.
Supporting school counselors and educators who find themselves in the role of university counselor or careers advisor has been a theme of my professional life over the last thirty years. I have a deep commitment to the fundamental importance of effective school counseling programs, not only in international schools, but in all schools everywhere.
Living and working outside my home country, the USA, for 13 years has allowed me to see the world through different lenses. I am absolutely committed to international education and also now keenly aware that “international” is also right here in Seattle.
